Since 2008, Pat O’Brien, past poet laureate of Rochester NH, has organized and hosted the Rochester Writer's Night, a place where writers of all ages and levels of experience can come and perform their original work.  Writers currently meet on the first Thursday of each month, October through June, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at Mel Flanagan's Irish Pub and Cafe, on the Cafe side.

Sign-ups begin at 6:00 PM on site.  Our feature performer starts at 6:15, after which we take a short break.  After the break we begin the open-mic portion of the program. Writers present their original work and are encouraged to perform poetry, prose or music for a listening audience.  There is a 5-minute limit per participant, with extra slots allotted if time allows.  Our evening usually ends around 8:00 PM.  A sound system, book/music stand, and book light are provided.

The Cafe provides complimantary cookies and coffee/tea for participants.  There is also a special menu available for those who want heartier fare.
